حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَعَفَّانُ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى قَالَ عَفَّانُ فِي حَدِيثِهِ أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَكَمُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ رَوَى عَنِّي حَدِيثًا وَهُوَ يَرَى أَنَّهُ كَذِبٌ فَهُوَ أَحَدُ الْكَاذِبِينَ وَقَالَ عَفَّانُ أَيْضًا الْكَذَّابِينَ.

Muhammad ibn Ja'far and Affan told us, they said: Shu'bah told us, from al-Hakam, from Ibn Abi Layla — Affan said in his hadith: al-Hakam informed us, saying: I heard Ibn Abi Layla — from Samurah ibn Jundub, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: Whoever relates a hadith from me while believing it to be false is one of the liars — and Affan also said 'one of the two liars.'
