حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ أَخْبَرَنَا ثَابِتٌ أَنَّ عِمْرَانَ بْنَ حُصَيْنٍ حَدَّثَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ الْحَيَاءُ خَيْرٌ كُلُّهُ قَالَ بُشَيْرُ بْنُ كَعْبٍ إِنَّ مِنْهُ ضَعْفًا فَغَضِبَ عِمْرَانُ فَقَالَ لَا أَرَانِي أُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ الْحَيَاءُ خَيْرٌ كُلُّهُ وَتَقُولُ إِنَّ مِنْهُ ضَعْفًا قَالَ فَجَفَاهُ وَأَرَادَ أَنْ لَا يُحَدِّثَهُ فَقِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّهُ كَمَا تُحِبُّ حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ.

Affan told us, Hammad told us, Thabit informed us, that Imran ibn Husayn reported that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Modesty is entirely good." Bushayr ibn Ka'b said: "Indeed some of it is weakness." Imran became angry and said: "I tell you what the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said - that modesty is entirely good - and you say some of it is weakness?" He turned away from him, intending not to speak to him, until it was said to him: "He is as you would like him to be." Affan told us, Hammad told us, from Humayd, from al-Hasan, from Imran ibn Husayn, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, similarly.
