Muhammad ibn Kathir, brother of Sulayman ibn Kathir, told us, Ja'far ibn Sulayman told us, from Awf, from Abu Raja' al-Utaridi, from Imran, that a man came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: "Peace be upon you." He returned the greeting, then the man sat down, and he said: "Ten." Then another came and said: "Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah." He returned the greeting, then the man sat down, and he said: "Twenty." Then another came and said: "Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings." He returned the greeting, then the man sat down, and he said: "Thirty." Hawdhah told us, from Awf, from Abu Raja', as a report without full chain, and likewise others have said.
