Abdullah ibn Numayr told us: Hajjaj informed us, from Abu Hashim al-Wasiti, from Rufay' Abu al-Aliyah, from Abu Barzah al-Aslami, who said: In his later life, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, when the gathering had lasted long and he rose to leave, would say, "Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise be to You; I bear witness that there is no god but You; I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance." Some of us said to him, "This is a saying we did not use to hear from you before." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "This is the expiation for whatever occurs in the gathering."
