حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ الْهَيْثَمِ حَدَّثَنَا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ و حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونٍَ أَنْبَأَنَا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ عَن عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ عَن أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ عَن أَبِي مُوسَى قَالَ سَمَّى لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَفْسَهُ أَسْمَاءً مِنْهَا مَا حَفِظْنَا وَمِنْهَا مَا لَمْ نَحْفَظْ فَقَالَ أَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ وَأَنَا أَحْمَدُ والْمُقَفِّي وَالْحَاشِرُ وَنَبِيُّ التَّوْبَةِ وَنَبِيُّ الْمَلْحَمَةِ.

Amr b. al-Haytham told us: al-Mas'udi told us - and my father told me: Yazid b. Harun told us: al-Mas'udi informed us - from Amr b. Murra, from Abu Ubayda, from Abu Musa, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, named himself for us with names, some of which we remembered and some we did not. He said: "I am Muhammad, and I am Ahmad, and al-Muqaffi, and al-Hashir, and the Prophet of Repentance, and the Prophet of War."
