Muhammad ibn Ja’far and Hajjaj narrated to us, they said: Shu’bah narrated to us, who said: I heard Abu al-Mukhtar of Banu Asad say: I heard Abd Allah ibn Abi Awfa say: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and his companions were struck by thirst. He stopped at a place, and a vessel was brought, and he began giving his companions to drink, and they kept saying, "You drink first." So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "The one who gives the people drink is the last of them to drink," until he had given all of them to drink.
