Abdur-Rahman b. Mahdi told us, Shayban b. Abdur-Rahman told us from al-Rukayn b. al-Rabi' from his father from his uncle, so-and-so b. Umayla, from Khurayim b. Fatik al-Asadi, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "People are of four kinds, and deeds are of six kinds. As for people: one for whom things are made easy in this world and the Hereafter; one for whom things are made easy in this world but constrained for him in the Hereafter; one for whom things are constrained in this world but made easy for him in the Hereafter; and one who is wretched in this world and the Hereafter. As for the deeds: two are decisive, one is like for like, one is tenfold, and one is seven hundredfold. The two decisive ones are: whoever dies a Muslim, a believer, not associating anything with Allah, Paradise is guaranteed for him; and whoever dies a disbeliever, the Fire is guaranteed for him. Whoever intends a good deed but does not do it, and Allah knows that he has made his heart aware of it and eagerly desired it, it is recorded for him as a good deed. Whoever intends an evil deed, it is not recorded against him; but if he does it, it is recorded as one [deed] and is not multiplied against him. And whoever does a good deed, it counts for him as ten times its like. And whoever spends something in the way of Allah, it counts for him as seven hundredfold."
