Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, he said: Ma'mar narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from Awf ibn al-Harith — who was the son of Aisha's brother on her mother's side — that Aisha told him that Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr said, concerning a sale or a gift she had given, "By Allah, Aisha will stop this, or I will impose restrictions upon her." Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, said, "Did he say this?" They said, "Yes." She said, "It is a vow binding upon me before Allah that I will never speak a word to Ibn al-Zubayr, ever." So Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr sought intercession through al-Miswar ibn Makhramah and Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Aswad ibn Abd Yaghuth, who were both from Banu Zuhrah. He (the narrator) mentioned the hadith. Al-Miswar and Abd al-Rahman began to implore Aisha to speak to him and accept his intercession, saying to her, "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade what you know about estrangement between Muslims; it is not lawful for a Muslim to shun his brother for more than three nights." Al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, he said: al-Awza'i narrated to us, he said: al-Zuhri narrated to us, from al-Tufayl ibn al-Harith — who was a man from Azd Shanu'ah and was Aisha's brother on her mother's side, Umm Ruman — and he mentioned the hadith: he sought help against her through al-Miswar ibn Makhramah and Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Aswad ibn Abd Yaghuth. They asked her permission to enter, and she gave them permission, so they spoke to her and implored her by Allah and by kinship, and by the saying of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: "It is not lawful for a Muslim man to shun his brother for more than three days." Abu al-Yaman narrated to us, he said: Shu'ayb informed us, from al-Zuhri, who said: Awf ibn al-Harith ibn al-Tufayl — who was the son of the brother of Aisha, the wife of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, on her mother's side — narrated to me that Aisha told him, and he mentioned the hadith.
