حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ح وَعَفَّانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورٌ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ عَنْ أَبِي السَّنَابِلِ بْنِ بَعْكَكٍ قَالَ وَضَعَتْ سُبَيْعَةُ بِنْتُ الْحَارِثِ بَعْدَ وَفَاةِ زَوْجِهَا بِثَلَاثٍ وَعِشْرِينَ أَوْ خَمْسٍ وَعِشْرِينَ لَيْلَةً فَلَمَّا تَعَلَّتْ تَشَوَّفَتْ لِلنِّكَاحِ فَأَنْكَرَ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهَا وَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ إِنْ تَفْعَلْ فَقَدْ حَلَّ أَجَلُهَا قَالَ عَفَّانُ فَقَدْ خَلَى أَجَلُهَا.

Husayn ibn Muhammad told us: Shayban told us, from Mansur - and by another chain - 'Affan said: Shu'bah told us: Mansur told us, from Ibrahim, from al-Aswad, from Abu al-Sanabil ibn Ba'kak, who said: Subay'ah bint al-Harith gave birth twenty-three or twenty-five nights after the death of her husband. When she had recovered, she made herself presentable for marriage, and this was disapproved of, and it was mentioned to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and he said: If she does so, her term has become lawful to end. 'Affan said: her term has expired.
