Sufyan told us: Mujalid told us, he said: I heard al-Sha'bi say: I heard al-Nu'man b. Bashir say - and he was governor of Kufa - My father gave me a slave boy as a gift, so I went to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, to have him witness it. He said, "Have you given all your children a gift?" He said, "No." He said, "Then I will not witness an injustice."
