Ali ibn Bahr narrated to us: Isa ibn Yunus narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Ishaq narrated to us: Yazid ibn Muhammad ibn Khuthaym al-Muharibi narrated to me, from Muhammad ibn Ka'b al-Qurazi, from Muhammad ibn Khuthaym Abu Yazid, from Ammar ibn Yasir, who said: I and Ali were companions in the expedition of Dhat al-Ushayrah. When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, halted there and stayed, we saw some people of Banu Mudlij working at a spring of theirs in a palm grove. Ali said to me: O Abu al-Yaqzan, would you like to go to these people and watch how they work? So we went to them and watched their work for a while, then sleep overcame us, so I and Ali went and lay down among a grove of palm trees on bare ground covered with dust, and we slept. By Allah, none awakened us but the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, moving us with his foot, and we had become covered with that dust. On that day the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to Ali: O Abu Turab (Father of Dust) - because of the dust that was seen on him. Then he said: Shall I not tell you both about the two most wretched of people? We said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah. He said: The little red one of Thamud who hamstrung the she-camel, and the one who will strike you, O Ali, upon this - meaning the crown of his head - until this is soaked with it - meaning his beard.
