حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ قَالَ زَعَمَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ أَشَجُّ بْنُ عَصَرٍ قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ فِيكَ خُلَّتَيْنِ يُحِبُّهُمَا اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قُلْتُ مَا هُمَا قَالَ الْحِلْمُ وَالْحَيَاءُ قُلْتُ أَقَدِيمًا كَانَ فِيَّ أَمْ حَدِيثًا قَالَ بَلْ قَدِيمًا قُلْتُ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي جَبَلَنِي عَلَى خُلَّتَيْنِ يُحِبُّهُمَا.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Isma'il narrated to us, saying: Yunus narrated to us, saying: Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakrah claimed: al-Ashajj ibn 'Asar said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to me: 'You have two qualities that Allah, Mighty and Sublime, loves.' I said: 'What are they?' He said: 'Forbearance and modesty.' I said: 'Were they in me of old, or are they new?' He said: 'Rather, of old.' I said: 'Praise be to Allah, who fashioned me with two qualities that He loves.'
