حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ أَبْجَرَ عَنْ إِيَادِ بْنِ لَقِيطٍ عَنْ أَبِي رِمْثَةَ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَعَ أَبِي فَرَأَى الَّتِي بِظَهْرِهِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَلَا أُعَالِجُهَا لَكَ فَإِنِّي طَبِيبٌ قَالَ أَنْتَ رَفِيقٌ وَاللَّهُ الطَّبِيبُ قَالَ مَنْ هَذَا مَعَكَ قُلْتُ ابْنِي قَالَ اشْهَدْ بِهِ قَالَ أَمَا إِنَّهُ لَا تَجْنِي عَلَيْهِ وَلَا يَجْنِي عَلَيْكَ اسْمُ أَبِي رِمْثَةَ رِفَاعَةُ بْنُ يَثْرِبِيٍّ.

Sufyan ibn Uyaynah told us, Abd al-Malik ibn Abjar told me, from Iyad ibn Laqit, from Abu Rimthah, who said: I came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, with my father, and he saw the mark on his back, and said: O Messenger of Allah, shall I treat it for you, for I am a physician? He said: You are a kind companion, but Allah is the Physician. He said: Who is this with you? I said: My son. He said: Bear witness to him. He said: Indeed he will not commit a crime against you, nor will you commit a crime against him. The name of Abu Rimthah was Rifa'ah ibn Yathribi.
