Hashim told us, Layth told us, from Ibrahim ibn Nashit al-Khawlani, from Ka'b ibn Alqamah, from Abu al-Haytham, from Dukhayn, the scribe of Uqbah ibn Amir, who said: I said to Uqbah: We have neighbors who drink wine, and I intend to call the guards against them so they may seize them. He said: Do not do that; rather admonish them and threaten them. He said: So I did, but they did not stop. He said: Then Dukhayn came to him and said: I forbade them but they did not stop, and I intend to call the guards against them. Uqbah said: Woe to you, do not do that, for I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: Whoever conceals the private fault of a believer is as if he had brought a girl buried alive back to life from her grave.
