حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْفَضْلِ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ قَالَ وَحَدَّثَنِي حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ابْنِ ضُمَيْرَةَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ يَحْيَى الْمَازِنِيِّ عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَبِي حَسَنٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَكْرَهُ نِكَاحَ السِّرِّ حَتَّى يُضْرَبَ بِدُفٍّ وَيُقَالَ أَتَيْنَاكُمْ أَتَيْنَاكُمْ فَحَيُّونَا نُحَيِّيكُمْ.

'Abdullah narrated to us: Abu al-Fadl al-Marwazi narrated to us, he said: Ibn Abi Uways narrated to me, and he said: Husayn ibn 'Abdullah ibn Dumayrah narrated to me, from 'Amr ibn Yahya al-Mazini, from his grandfather Abu Hasan, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to dislike a secret marriage, until it was announced with a tambourine and it was said: "We have come to you, we have come to you, so welcome us as we welcome you."
