قَالَ عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَهُوَ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ الْعَبْدِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنِ الصَّعْبِ بْنِ جَثَّامَةَ أَنَّهُ أَهْدَى لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَحْمَ صَيْدٍ فَلَمْ يَقْبَلْهُ فَرَأَى ذَلِكَ فِي وَجْهِ الصَّعْبِ فَقَالَ إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَمْنَعْنَا أَنْ نَقْبَلَ مِنْكَ إِلَّا أَنَّا كُنَّا حُرُمًا.

'Abdullah said: Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr -- that is, al-Muqaddami -- narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Thabit al-'Abdi narrated to us, he said: 'Amr ibn Dinar narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from 'Ubaydullah ibn 'Abdullah, from Ibn 'Abbas, from al-Sa'b ibn Jaththamah, that he gave the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, a gift of game meat, but he did not accept it. When he saw that on al-Sa'b's face, he said: "What prevented us from accepting it from you is only that we were in the state of ihram (pilgrim sanctity)."
