قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ عَنْ يَحْيَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي حَيَّةُ التَّمِيمِيُّ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ لَا شَيْءَ فِي الْهَامِ وَالْعَيْنُ حَقٌّ وَأَصْدَقُ الطِّيَرِ الْفَأْلُ.

Abu 'Amir told us: 'Ali told us, from Yahya - meaning Ibn Abi Kathir - who said: Hayyah al-Tamimi told me that his father informed him that he heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "There is nothing to the belief in al-hamah, and the evil eye is real, and the truest form of omen is a good word."
