قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَهْدِيٍّ : مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنِ الصَّعْبِ بْنِ جَثَّامَةَ اللَّيْثِيِّ أَنَّهُ أَهْدَى إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ بِالْأَبْوَاءِ أَوْ بِوَدَّانَ حِمَارًا وَحْشِيًّا فَرَدَّهُ عَلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَمَّا رَأَى مَا فِي وَجْهِي قَالَ إِنَّا لَمْ نَرُدَّ عَلَيْكَ إِلَّا أَنَّا حُرُمٌ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
He said: I read to Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi: Malik ibn Anas, from Ibn Shihab, from Ubaydullah ibn Abdullah, from Ibn Abbas, from al-Sa'b ibn Jaththama al-Laythi, that he gave a gift to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, while he was at al-Abwa' or Waddan, of an onager, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, returned it to him. When he saw what was on my face, he said: "We did not return it upon you except that we are in the sacred state."
