حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْمُسَيِّبِ قَالَ حَدَّثَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي الْعَاصِ قَالَ آخِرُ مَا عَهِدَ إِلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَمَمْتَ قَوْمًا فَأَخِفَّ بِهِمْ الصَّلَاةَ.

Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us: Shu'bah told us, from 'Amr ibn Murrah, who said: I heard Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib say: 'Uthman ibn Abi al-'As narrated, saying: The last thing the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, charged me with was: When you lead a people in prayer, be brief with them in the prayer.
