قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ أَبِي الدَّهْمَاءِ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ لَتُجَاوِزُونَ إِلَى رَهْطٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا كَانُوا أَحْصَى وَلَا أَحْفَظَ لِحَدِيثِهِ مِنِّي وَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَا بَيْنَ آدَمَ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ أَمْرٌ أَكْبَرُ مِنْ الدَّجَّالِ.

He said: Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Malik told us: Hammad — meaning Ibn Zayd — told us, from Ayyub, from Humayd ibn Hilal, from Abu al-Dahma, from Hisham ibn 'Amir, who said: You overreach in your praise toward a group of the Companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who were no more precise or retentive of his hadith than I, and I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: Between Adam and the Day of Resurrection there is no matter greater than the Dajjal.
