He said, Ya'qub told us: my father told us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, who said: Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Husayn ibn Ja'far and Abu Ishaq ibn Yasar told me, from Abdullah ibn Khabbab, freedman of Banu Adi ibn al-Najjar, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, had forbidden us from eating the meat of our sacrifices beyond three days. He said: So I went out on a journey, then came to my family, and that was some days after the Feast of Sacrifice. My wife brought me a leg of meat in which she had put dried meat. I said to her, 'Where did you get this dried meat?' She said, 'From our sacrificial animals.' I said to her, 'Did not the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbid us to eat it beyond three days?' She said, 'He has since granted the people a concession regarding that.' He said: I did not believe her until I sent to my brother Qatada ibn al-Nu'man — who had been present at Badr — to ask him about that. He sent word to me: 'Eat your food, for she has spoken the truth; the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, has granted the Muslims a concession in that regard.'
