حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ قَالَ عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَاه أَبِي عَنْهُ وَهُوَ حَيٌّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُجْرُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْغَسَّانِيُّ مِنْ أَهْلِ الرَّمْلَةِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَوْنٍ الْكِنَانِيِّ وَكَانَ عَامِلًا لِعُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ عَلَى الرَّمْلَةِ أَنَّهُ شَهِدَ عَبْدَ الْمَلِكِ بْنَ مَرْوَانَ قَالَ لِبَشِيرِ بْنِ عَقْرَبَةَ الْجُهَنِيِّ يَوْمَ قُتِلَ عَمْرُو بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْعَاصِ يَا أَبَا الْيَمَانِ إِنِّي قَدْ احْتَجْتُ الْيَوْمَ إِلَى كَلَامِكَ فَقُمْ فَتَكَلَّمْ قَالَ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ قَامَ يَخْطُبُ لَا يَلْتَمِسُ بِهَا إِلَّا رِيَاءً وَسُمْعَةً أَوْقَفَهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مَوْقِفَ رِيَاءٍ وَسُمْعَةٍ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Sa'id ibn Mansur told us — Abdullah said: my father narrated it to us from him while he was still alive — he said: Hujr ibn al-Harith al-Ghassani, from the people of Ramlah, told us, from Abdullah ibn Awn al-Kinani, who was a governor for Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz over Ramlah, that he witnessed Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan say to Bashir ibn Aqrabah al-Juhani, on the day Amr ibn Sa'id ibn al-As was killed, 'O Abu al-Yaman, I am in need today of your speech, so stand and speak.' He said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: Whoever stands to deliver a speech seeking by it nothing but showing off and being heard of [by people], Allah, Mighty and Sublime, will make him stand on the Day of Resurrection in a standing of being shown off and heard of.'
