Yazid b. Harun narrated to us: Sufyan informed us, from Mansur, from Ibrahim, from Alqamah, who said: Abdullah was consulted about a woman whom a man had married and then died before fixing her dowry and before consummating the marriage. He said: They kept coming to him for a ruling, and he said, "I hold that she is entitled to a dowry like that of women of her standing, she has the right of inheritance, and she must observe the waiting period." Then Ma'qil b. Sinan al-Ashja'i testified that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, had ruled concerning Birwa' bint Washiq in the same way he had ruled.
