حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنَا زَبَّانُ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ أَيُّ الْجِهَادِ أَعْظَمُ أَجْرًا قَالَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لِلَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى ذِكْرًا قَالَ فَأَيُّ الصَّائِمِينَ أَعْظَمُ أَجْرًا قَالَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لِلَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى ذِكْرًا ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ لَنَا الصَّلَاةَ وَالزَّكَاةَ وَالْحَجَّ وَالصَّدَقَةَ كُلُّ ذَلِكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لِلَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى ذِكْرًا فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ لِعُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ يَا أَبَا حَفْصٍ ذَهَبَ الذَّاكِرُونَ بِكُلِّ خَيْرٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَجَلْ.

A man asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him): 'Which type of jihad has the greatest reward?' He said: 'The one who remembers Allah the Blessed and Exalted the most.' He said: 'Which fasting person has the greatest reward?' He said: 'The one who remembers Allah the Blessed and Exalted the most.' Then he mentioned prayer, zakah, hajj, and charity, and for each the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'The one who remembers Allah the Blessed and Exalted the most.' Abu Bakr said to Umar: 'O Abu Hafs, the people of remembrance have taken all the goodness.' The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Indeed.'
