حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ أَنَّ أَبَا الْمِنْهَالِ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ إِيَاسَ بْنَ عَبْدٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا تَبِيعُوا فَضْلَ الْمَاءِ فَإِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ الْمَاءِ قَالَ وَالنَّاسُ يَبِيعُونَ مَاءَ الْفُرَاتِ فَنَهَاهُمْ.

Rawh told us: Ibn Jurayj told us: Amr ibn Dinar informed me that Abu al-Minhal informed him that Iyas ibn Abd, one of the Companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Do not sell surplus water, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade selling water." He said: And the people were selling the water of the Euphrates, so he forbade them.
