حَدَّثَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْقَاصُّ وَهُو أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَمُوتَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَّا وَهُوَ يُحْسِنُ بِاللَّهِ الظَّنَّ فَإِنَّ قَوْمًا قَدْ أَرْدَاهُمْ سُوءُ ظَنِّهِمْ بِاللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ { وَذَلِكُمْ ظَنُّكُمْ الَّذِي ظَنَنْتُمْ بِرَبِّكُمْ أَرْدَاكُمْ فَأَصْبَحْتُمْ مِنْ الْخَاسِرِينَ }.

Al-Nadr ibn Isma'il al-Qass, who is Abu al-Mughirah, told us, Ibn Abi Layla told us, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Let none of you die except while thinking well of Allah, for some people were destroyed by their evil assumption about Allah, Mighty and Majestic: {And that was your assumption which you assumed about your Lord; it has destroyed you, and you have become among the losers.}"
