Abu Qatan told us, Hisham told us, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir, who said: The sun was eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on a very hot day. He led his companions in prayer and prolonged the standing until they began to fall down; then he bowed and prolonged it; then he raised his head and prolonged it; then he bowed again and prolonged it; then he raised his head again and prolonged it; then he prostrated twice; then he stood and did something similar, so it was four bowings and four prostrations.
