حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ حَدَّثَنَا جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ نُصَلِّي الْجُمُعَةَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذْ أَقْبَلَتْ عِيرٌ تَحْمِلُ طَعَامًا قَالَ فَالْتَفَتُوا إِلَيْهَا حَتَّى مَا بَقِيَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا اثْنَا عَشَرَ رَجُلًا فَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ { وَإِذَا رَأَوْا تِجَارَةً أَوْ لَهْوًا انْفَضُّوا إِلَيْهَا وَتَرَكُوكَ قَائِمًا }.

Mu'awiya ibn 'Amr told us, Za'ida told us, from Husayn, from Salim ibn Abi al-Ja'd — Jabir ibn 'Abdullah told us — who said: While we were praying Jumu'a with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, a caravan arrived carrying food. He said: The people turned toward it until no one remained with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, except twelve men. Then this verse was revealed: "And when they saw merchandise or diversion, they rushed to it and left you standing."
