حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنِي دَاوُدُ بْنُ الْحُصَيْنِ مَوْلَى عَمْرِو بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ وَاقِدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِذَا خَطَبَ أَحَدُكُمْ الْمَرْأَةَ فَقَدِرَ أَنْ يَرَى مِنْهَا بَعْضَ مَا يَدْعُوهُ إِلَيْهَا فَلْيَفْعَلْ.

Ya'qub told us, my father told us, from Ibn Ishaq, Dawud ibn al-Husayn, freedman of Amr ibn Uthman, told me, from Waqid ibn Amr ibn Sa'd ibn Mu'adh, from Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "When one of you proposes to a woman, if he is able to look at some of what draws him to her, let him do so."
