حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ أَنَسٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ لَمْ يَبْلُغْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ الشَّيْبِ مَا يَخْضِبُهُ وَلَكِنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ خَضَبَ رَأْسَهُ وَلِحْيَتَهُ حَتَّى يَقْنُوَ شَعْرُهُ بِالْحِنَّاءِ وَالْكَتَمِ.

Husayn told us, Muhammad ibn Rashid told us, from Makhul, from Musa ibn Anas, from his father, who said: The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, did not have enough gray hair to need dyeing, but Abu Bakr dyed his head and beard until his hair turned reddish-brown with henna and katam.
