حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَيَّاشٍ عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ غَزِيَّةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ حُمَيْدَ بْنَ عُبَيْدٍ مَوْلَى بَنِي الْمُعَلَّى يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ ثَابِتًا الْبُنَانِيَّ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِجِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام مَا لِي لَمْ أَرَ مِيكَائِيلَ ضَاحِكًا قَطُّ قَالَ مَا ضَحِكَ مِيكَائِيلُ مُنْذُ خُلِقَتْ النَّارُ.

Abu al-Yaman told us, Ibn ‘Ayyash told us, from ‘Umarah ibn Ghaziyyah al-Ansari, that he heard Humayd ibn ‘Ubayd, client of Banu al-Mu’alla, say: I heard Thabit al-Bunani relating from Anas ibn Malik, from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, that he said to Gabriel, peace be upon him, "Why have I never seen Michael laugh?" He said, "Michael has not laughed since the Fire was created."
