حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ أُحُدٍ كُسِرَتْ رَبَاعِيَةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَشُجَّ فِي وَجْهِهِ قَالَ فَجَعَلَ الدَّمُ يَسِيلُ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ فَجَعَلَ يَمْسَحُ الدَّمَ عَنْ وَجْهِهِ وَيَقُولُ كَيْفَ يُفْلِحُ قَوْمٌ خَضَبُوا وَجْهَ نَبِيِّهِمْ بِالدَّمِ وَهُوَ يَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَالَ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ { لَيْسَ لَكَ مِنْ الْأَمْرِ شَيْءٌ أَوْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَوْ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ ظَالِمُونَ }.

Ibn Abi Adi told us, from Humayd, from Anas, who said: On the day of Uhud, the front tooth of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was broken, and his face was gashed. He said: Blood began flowing down his face, and he began wiping the blood from his face, saying: How can a people prosper who have stained the face of their Prophet with blood, while he calls them to Allah, Mighty and Sublime? He said: So Allah, Mighty and Sublime, revealed: 'You have no part in the matter, whether He turns to them in mercy or punishes them, for they are wrongdoers.'
