Abd al-Razzaq and Muhammad ibn Bakr told us -- he said: Ibn Jurayj informed us, Ibn Shihab informed me, from Anas ibn Malik, that he said: The last look I ever gave to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was when he had fallen ill and ordered Abu Bakr, so he led the people in prayer. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, lifted the curtain of Aisha's chamber and looked at the people; I looked at his face -- it was as if it were a page of the Qur'an -- so much so that Abu Bakr stepped back on his heels to reach the row, thinking that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, wanted to lead the people in prayer. He smiled when he saw them in rows, and gestured to them with his hand, "Complete your prayer," and let down the curtain between himself and them. And he passed away that very day.
