حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ وَعَفَّانُ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ خَلِيفَةَ حَدَّثَنِي حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْمُرُ بِالْبَاءَةِ وَيَنْهَى عَنْ التَّبَتُّلِ نَهْيًا شَدِيدًا وَيَقُولُ تَزَوَّجُوا الْوَدُودَ الْوَلُودَ إِنِّي مُكَاثِرٌ الْأَنْبِيَاءَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ.

Husayn and Affan told us, they said, Khalaf ibn Khalifah told us, Hafs ibn Umar told me, from Anas ibn Malik, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to command marriage and forbid celibacy strictly, and would say, "Marry the loving and fertile woman, for I will boast of your numbers among the prophets on the Day of Resurrection."
