Mahbub ibn al-Hasan told us, from Khalid, from Ikrima, that Ibn Abbas said to him and to his son Ali: "Go to Abu Sa'id al-Khudri and listen to his hadith." He said: "So we went, and there he was in an orchard of his. When he saw us, he took his cloak and came to us and sat down, and he began relating to us, until he came to mention the building of the mosque." He said: "We used to carry a brick at a time, while Ammar ibn Yasir carried two bricks at a time." He said: "So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, saw him and began brushing the dust off him, saying: 'O Ammar, will you not carry a brick like your companions carry?' He said: 'I want the reward from Allah.'" He said: "So he began brushing the dust off him and saying: 'Woe to Ammar - the rebellious faction will kill him. He calls them to Paradise, and they call him to the Fire.'" He said: "So Ammar began saying: 'I seek refuge in the Most Merciful from the trials.'"
