حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى يَعْنِي الْجُهَنِيَّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ زَيْدًا الْعَمِّيَّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الصِّدِّيقِ النَّاجِيُّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَكُونُ مِنْ أُمَّتِي الْمَهْدِيُّ فَإِنْ طَالَ عُمْرُهُ أَوْ قَصُرَ عُمْرُهُ عَاشَ سَبْعَ سِنِينَ أَوْ ثَمَانِ سِنِينَ أَوْ تِسْعَ سِنِينَ يَمْلَأُ الْأَرْضَ قِسْطًا وَعَدْلًا وَتُخْرِجُ الْأَرْضُ نَبَاتَهَا وَتُمْطِرُ السَّمَاءُ قَطْرَهَا.

Ibn Numayr told us: Musa — meaning al-Juhani — told us, who said: I heard Zayd al-'Ammi say: Abu al-Siddiq al-Naji told us, who said: I heard Abu Sa'id al-Khudri say: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There will be among my community the Mahdi. Whether his life is long or short, he will live seven years, or eight years, or nine years, filling the earth with justice and fairness, and the earth will bring forth its plants and the sky will pour down its rain."
