Isma'il told us, Ibn Awn informed us, from Muhammad, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Bishr ibn Mas'ud, who said — he kept referring the account back until he traced it to Abu Sa'id — that this was mentioned before the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and he said: "What is that?" They said: "A man has a wife who is nursing, and he has intercourse with her but dislikes that she become pregnant by him; and a man has a slave-girl, and he has intercourse with her but dislikes that she become pregnant by him." He said: "There is no harm upon you in doing that, for it is only decree." Ibn Awn said: I related it to al-Hasan, and he said: "'There is no harm upon you' — as though this were a rebuke."
