حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَنْبَسَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، قَالَ قَالَ سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ إِنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ قَالَ كُنَّا نَقُولُ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم حَىٌّ أَفْضَلُ أُمَّةِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم بَعْدَهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ثُمَّ عُمَرُ ثُمَّ عُثْمَانُ رضى الله عنهم أَجْمَعِينَ .
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Hadrat 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (may Allah be well pleased with them both) narrates: While the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was alive, we used to say that the most excellent member of the community of the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) after him is Hadrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be well pleased with him), then Hadrat 'Umar (may Allah be well pleased with him), then Hadrat ' Uthman (may Allah be well pleased with him) — may Allah be well pleased with them all.
الترجمة الأردية
حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما فرماتے ہیں: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی حیاتِ مبارکہ میں ہم کہا کرتے تھے کہ حضور نبیِ اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے بعد اُمّتِ محمدیہ میں سب سے افضل حضرت ابوبکر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ ہیں، پھر حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ، پھر حضرت عثمان رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ ہیں — رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہم اجمعین۔
